At the heart of the Maison Rousseau et Littérature, located on the very site of the writer’s birthplace, the Rousseau Trail awaits you. This experience was born from a strong conviction: Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712–1778) is an author whose work, perhaps more than most, still has the power to challenge us today. Although he was born in Geneva at the dawn of the Enlightenment and spent his childhood and adolescence there, the reach of his thought and writing extends far beyond the walls of his city.

The Maison’s Literary Café welcomes visitors and regulars alike in a peaceful setting, ideal for quiet moments and reflection. In addition to a curated selection of books from the French-speaking region of Switzerland, works by Rousseau, and titles dedicated to the Enlightenment thinker, the café also offers a variety of drinks and delicious snacks.
